ORDINANCE NO. 05-07

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 99-17

WHICH ESTABLISHED AN EMERGENCY SERVICES

AWARD PROGRAM (LOSAP) IN THE BOROUGH OF

HILLSDALE, COUNTY OF BERGEN, STATE OF

NEW JERSEY.

WHEREAS, The Borough of Hillsdale has established a Length of Service Awards Program (LOSAP) to enhance its ability to recruit and retain volunteer members for its Fire Department and Ambulance Service; and

WHEREAS, the Borough of Hillsdale wishes to provide for the annual awards granted to each eligible participant to be increased by a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) percentage set by the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) based upon the Consumer Price Index for this purpose; and

WHEREAS, Local Finance Notice 2005-11 requires an Ordinance be adopted by the Borough authorizing these adjustments;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Ordinance No. 99-17 is hereby amended to allow for the annual LOSAP payments to the participants to be increased by the COLA percentage set by the DCA each year for this purpose.

As required by LFN 2005-11, a Public Hearing will be held at 8:00 PM on May 10, 2005, in the Council Chambers.
