Ordinance 07-28

Title: Amending Chapter 29, Fire Department, of the Revised Ordinances of the Borough of Hillsdale

SECTION 1: § 29-2. Organization of Department. is amended to read as follows: Section 29-2 B shall be replaced as:

B. Deputy Chief (1)

SECTION 2: § 29-3. Fire Committee established; members; designation; duties. is amended to read as follows:

A. The Fire Committee shall consist of three (3) members of the Borough Council appointed for a one year term at the Council’s annual reorganization

B. The first member of the Committee appointed shall be the Fire Commissioner.

C. It shall be the duty of the Fire Commissioner to make recommendations looking to the general efficiency and welfare of the Fire Department.

D. In the absence of the Fire Commissioner, or in the event of his or her inability to serve, duties shall be assumed by the Committee members.

SECTION 3: § 29-4. Establishment and organization of Board of Fire Officers. is amended to read as follows:

The Board shall consist of the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief and the Captains and Lieutenants of each of the companies.

SECTION 4. Prior Inconsistent Ordinances Superseded. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contrary to or inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby superseded.

SECTION 5. Invalidity. If any section or provision of this Ordinance be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional, preempted by Federal or State law, or otherwise invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, the same shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole or any other section or provision hereof.

SECTION 6. Effect. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon final passage and publication, or otherwise as provided by law.
