Planning Board
All new building construction must be approved in advance by the Planning Board. Its principal functions include preparation of the Borough Master Plan, governing subdivision, recommending to the Council proposed development regulations, granting conditional uses contained in the Zoning ordinance, and granting informal review of proposed development when requested by an applicant. The Chairperson is Jason DeGise and the Administrative Secretary is Christie Wyssenski. Christie can be reached at 201-337-7470. Board of Health
The members are appointed by the Mayor & Council for a 3 year term. The Board meets at 7:30 PM on the first Tuesday of each month except for July and August. The members oversee the activities of the Health Department composed of the Health Officer/Sanitary Inspector, the Public Health Nurse and the Secretary/Registrar of Vital Statistics. The Board reviews policies and procedures and may also create legislation directed toward improving the health of the Hillsdale residents. The Board of Health Secretary, Pat Gioe, can be reached for health related questions at 201-666-4800, extension 1525, during the hours of 8 AM and 1 PM, Monday through Friday.
Environmental Commission
The Commission studies and makes recommendations to the Mayor and Council on Open Space preservation, natural resource management and historic preservation. The Commission makes planting recommendations when a subdivision occurs in town. The Commission is comprised of seven members. The Chairman is Jack Stubbs and he can be reached at 201-664-9008.
