RESOLUTION

Title:  Requesting the Assets of Pascack Valley Hospital Association, Inc.

       Be Sold to a Purchaser Who Will Provide Health Care Services

      For the Community

 

WHEREAS, Pascack Valley Hospital Association, Inc. has filed a petition for bankruptcy Case No. 07-23686 Chapter 11 which is pending before the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella, U.S.B.J.; and

 

WHEREAS, Pascack Valley Hospital is vitally important to our community and its 2005 Annual Report states that for 2005 it had 13,997 inpatient admissions, 41,544 patient day, 5,584 operating room procedures, 10,720 same day center patients, 1,025 births and 22,749 emergency room visits; and

 

WHEREAS, Pascack Valley Hospital closed on November 21, 2007, and as a result residents of our community must now seek other alternatives for certain of their health care need; and

 

WHEREAS, the best interests of our community will be served if the hospital’s assets be returned to service promptly by a purchaser who will provide health care services (including at a minimum an emergency room with observation beds) for the community; and

 

WHEREAS, we understand that Hackensack University Medical Center submitted a proposal to purchase the assets of the hospital and to operate it as a functioning medical facility and medical school and this is the type of proposal that we endorse fully; and

 

WHEREAS, we understand that a public auction for the assets of Debtor will take place on February 4, 2008, in the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella’s chambers;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that on behalf of its residents, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Hillsdale respectfully request the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella take into consideration the public welfare of our community and the need and desire of our community for the hospital to be sold as an ongoing concern while evaluating the bids made during the public auction of February 4, 2008.
