Title: Smart Growth Grant
WHEREAS, the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) is a statewide nonprofit organization that supports municipal environmental commissions in their efforts to protect the environment and preserve the quality of life in their towns; and
WHERAS, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation is again making available funding for the ANJEC Smart Growth Grant Program by providing matching grants to New Jersey municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Hillsdale desires to investigate the feasibility of an interconnecting bicycle path between Hillsdale, River Vale and Old Tappan; and
WHEREAS, the bicycle network would
continue the
WHEREAS, the bicycle network would offer connections between the three municipalities’ recreation facilities and education facilities, including a regional high school.
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the Borough of Hillsdale will be the lead municipality in the collaborative study.
WHEREAS, the Borough desires to apply
for $10,000 in funding for this planning study under the ANJEC Smart Growth
Grant Program; and
WHERAS, the Borough acknowledges that it must provide matching
funds or in-kind services on a one-to-one basis to the grant funds received,
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Governing Body hereby endorses the Borough’s grant application and agrees to provide $10,000 in matching funding in the way of 50% through in-kind services (design professionals, volunteers, public outreach, etc.) and the balance in cash funding to the feasibility study.
