COMMINGLE CONTENTS

 

Acceptable materials:

 

Aluminum food and beverage containers: Aluminum soda, beer cans and pet food cans etc. Glass food and beverage containers: Flint (clear) Amber (brown) Green Ferrous Cans: Tin/Steel soup, food, coffee cans etc. Plastic Containers with # 1, 2, 5 Which may include(please check numbers): Soda and beverage bottles of various colors, milk and water jugs (narrow neck) Detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, bleach bottles (narrow neck), ketchup bottles, syrup bottles and yogurt containers, etc. *Please rinse clean all material from residue.

 

Materials not acceptable:

 

Mirrors, window or auto glass, light bulbs, ceramics, microwave trays, any plastics with no number on them, pesticide, chemical antifreeze and oil containers, paper bags and paper products, plastic bags, plastic film, coat hangers, paint cans, tar pails, vacuum and pool hoses, PVC pipe, plumbing accessories, toys, building products, wire, electrical equipment, dishware, Styrofoam, food trays, pots, pans, toasters and small appliances, flower pots, nursery trays, rubber hoses, general household items, etc …….

 

 

 

Q: Can televisions be left out for pick up?
A: 
No all televisions and electronics must be brought down to the DPW for recycling.

 

Q: What can be mixed with paper for recycling?
A: Junk mail, cardboard, newspapers, paper bags.

Q: How do I dispose of metal items, such as refrigerators, stoves, washer/dryers, barbeque grills, railing and other heavy metal items?
A: Call our garbage hotline at 201-666-4800 extension 1578, for a pick-up appointment on Thursday only. Please call by 12:00PM on Wednesday.

Q: How can I dispose of household trash? (other than items to be recycled)?
A: Up to five items can be placed curbside. Bulk items should not exceed 5 feet in length (rugs, scrap wood, etc. will have to be cut and bundled).


Q: What can I bring to the recycling center?
A: Paper, cardboard, de-mounted tires, car batteries, used oil, commingled glass, plastic, aluminum, heavy metals and organic material, i.e., grass/brush. No Hazardous Material i.e., NO paint, propane tanks.

Q: What are the hours of the recycling center?
A: Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 3:00PM and the first and third Saturday of each month from 8:00AM to 12:00PM.

Q: Can I bring construction debris to be recycled?
A: No, solid waste/debris cannot be accepted at the recycling center.

Q: What can I do with construction debris?
A: Construction debris is the responsibility of the contractor and homeowner and not to be disposed of with our sanitation company, when a contractor is employed.

Q: Are landscapers allowed to dump at the recycling center?
A: No, only residents with current Borough Stickers attached to their vehicles. Stickers are available at borough hall. Please bring your vehicle registration to obtain a sticker.

Q: How can I place vegetative/brush waste at the curb?
A: Brush/tree limbs must be cut into 4 foot lengths and tied in bundles no more than 75 pounds. Grass clippings, etc. can be placed in garbage cans at the curbside for pickup. Plastic bags cannot be used to dispose of organic material. Check the recycling calendar for your street specific pick up schedule.
