Residing on the eastern edge of Hillsdale, the 12-acre property of Stonybrook is the perfect summer club for the entire family. Kids can jump into our diving pool, or slide down our 14 ft. slide, while parents swim in our heated competition pool. The swim club also offers members a lot more: a snack bar, a basketball court, parties, live bands, and playgrounds. Our club has a total of 5 pools; for different ages or activities. We also offer learn-to-swim programs, on top of our swim and dive teams.

Theme nights, bands, table soccer, and ping pong are also all part of the culture of Stonybrook. Our two gazebos and pavilion provide members a place to hang out in the shade, and kids can play sports or make crafts at Kids Korner every weekday. With three entrances, hot showers, changing areas, and stainless steel and tiled bathrooms, there is a reason members keep coming back to Stonybrook every summer.

 Eligibility

Stonybrook memberships are available to registered Hillsdale residents and non-residents. All members must show proof of residence for each adult and child when registering. Driver's License for adults and report cards or prescriptions with the child's name and address on them. You must all reside at the same household (for 12 months) to be considered a family. Sign up early and pay early and get the best rate pay by April 15th the next rate is May 5th and the last rate is  May 6, 2026.

Basic Qualifications

 Swimmers and Divers must be between the ages of 5 and 17, as of May 31, 2025.  A child’s age on that date is the age that will be used throughout the season. (For example, a child turns 7 on June 1, 2025, will swim with 5/6-year old's, they were 6 years old at time of registration). Practice for 5-to-10-year old’s is 8am-9am, 11-year-old to 17 from 9am-10am.

The swim team is not intended for non-swimmers or those in need of very basic swimming instruction.  Due to the number of children involved and the need for proper supervision, instruction, and safety during workouts, it is necessary for each child to demonstrate a basic level of swimming ability prior to participation in practices.  Prior to practicing with the teams, swimmers must be able to swim at least 15 meters (5- & 6-year-olds), 25 meters (7-10 years old), or 50 meters (11-17 years old) showing reasonable swimming ability, without stopping or touching bottom.  If your child is unable to meet these qualifications, you will be encouraged to enroll your child in one of the many private or group swim lessons Stonybrook Swim Club offers.  Due to facilities limitations, additional restrictions may be necessary at the discretion of the head swimming coach. Parents must volunteer for a least 2 swim meets, sign up at time of registration.

Parties

Want to have your child's birthday party, graduation, family reunion and or a party for kids and adults, book in the office once we are open.  You set up under the pavilion or 2 tables on the grounds.  There is a maximum number of guests, you pay for each non member guest. We will only have 1-2 party's per day.  Forms are available in the office no phone reservations.  Pre-Season party dates available email phughes@hillsdalenj.org

Description: Provides participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses unit EMS personnel take over.

Water Safety Instructor Course

 Prerequisites:  Minimum age 15, Swim 300 yards continuously; tread water for 2 minutes using only your legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using the steps or ladder.  Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguard course receive an American Red Cross certificate of Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.
